Best avoidedThe seeds (beans) hold ricin, one of the most powerful plant poisons known, and the leaves are toxic too. Even a small well-chewed seed can be fatal, and there is no antidote. Signs include severe (often bloody) diarrhoea, belly pain, weakness, tremors and collapse, sometimes hours later.
How much: Never feed any part. The seeds are deadly; treat any nibble as an emergency.
