Is autumn crocus toxic to rabbits?

A sourced answer from House Rabbit Society and RWAF guidance. If your bunny has chewed this plant, call your exotic vet right away.

Autumn crocus (meadow saffron)

Best avoided

One of the most dangerous garden plants. It holds colchicine, a poison that quietly damages the gut, liver and bone marrow with no antidote. Signs often appear hours later, then come on hard: severe diarrhoea, belly pain, profound weakness and organ failure. Far deadlier than the spring crocus.

How much: Never feed. Any suspected nibble is a true emergency; keep it out of reach entirely.
